On June 6 at 7:30 PM at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall “Tagharan” Ensemble of Ancient Music will present “French Baroque։ Grigor Arakelian” concert.
Artistic director and conductor of the Ensemble: Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Sedrak Yerkanyan.
Experience the elegance and royal splendor of French Baroque music with masterpieces by Rameau, Couperin, Lully, and others. Unlike its Italian and German counterparts, French Baroque is rarely performed in Armenia. This special evening features the unique sound of the Armenian viola, performed brilliantly by Grigor Arakelian.
Grigor Arakelian
Composer, conductor, and creator of the Armenian viola (Tavkemani). His work is rooted in Komitas’s musical philosophy and the ancient Armenian modal system. He has performed and conducted across Europe and North America, and in 2005 founded the medieval Armenian music ensemble Oshakan.
