Drama Theatre named after Hrachya Ghaplanyan

The Yerevan Drama Theatre named after Hrachya Ghaplanyan was founded in 1967 by Hrachya Ghaplanyan, People’s Artist of the USSR. The theatre’s first production was Optimistic Tragedy. Over the years, it has built a rich artistic legacy, combining classical drama with contemporary works.

The theatre has toured in Moscow, Tbilisi, Paris, Beirut, Los Angeles and other cities, and has also participated in international theatre and Shakespeare festivals. More than 100 productions have been staged throughout its history.

Today, the theatre remains one of Yerevan’s important cultural institutions, presenting a diverse repertoire, new productions and contemporary interpretations of dramatic works.
